Shyla’s Journey
Ann Davis

Shyla was a stray pickup and mommy of 7 little puppies. After talking with Deanna about them, I decided to foster them till the puppies could get adopted through the Galveston County Animal Resource Center. Shyla was extremely malnurished and thin. We discovered Shyla had worms the first night, so we took care of that. Then over the course of their stay at my house, the puppies were discovered to have ringworm when we took them to get their shots at the shelter. We were informed that if any were left at the shelter, they would be put down. Needless to say, I brought all of them back home with me. I created a clean room within my dinning room and discovered all the puppies had roundworms as well. So we made a trip and got antifungal/antibacterial shampoos and creams and also lots of dewormer for the puppies. I was able to slowly medically clear a few puppies and separated them out. After a few were adopted, the others had developed a sore on their left shoulders. I paid for a vet visit and we discovered that the puppies had a bacterial infection that caused an abscess within the remaining puppies. The vet informed us that they mostly likely caught it from Shyla as her body wasn’t able to fight anything and it passed to them. After fundraisers helped pay for all the antibiotics, shampoos, and more, I was able to medically clear each and every one of them. Mutt Mesh Animal Rescue was always there if I needed anything and helped promote those sweethearts and they all got adopted quickly. Shyla is now in a wonderful home where she is loved and spoiled.

Fostering for Mutt Mesh has been such a wonderful experience. Our family has fostered through several organizations, and Mutt Mesh is by far our favorite! The hearts of these ladies are so big, and they really do pour themselves into helping all of the dogs they can. We have been so impressed with their organization, and they are always available to help if you need it!

Fostering and volunteering with Mutt Mesh Animal Rescue is the most rewarding thing I do in my life besides being a mom. I love all my foster fur babies as if they are my own. They each teach me something new and help me be a better mom to my other pets. We have dogs, a cat, lizards, and children of different ages. We are able to expose the fosters to both large and small breeds and help with potty training, kennel training, simple commands, etc as needed. I was raised with lots of animals and my mothers desire to always be surrounded by fur babies spread to me. I only wish I could save every animal that was injured, abused, or dumped. This is my way of helping out…. my main focus is the Galveston County Animal Resource Center euth lists and love the seniors as well. If anyone reading this has even the slightest desire to foster, you need to just try it out. It’s just so rewarding… some skeptics say that the dogs don’t know they are being saved….after seeing their expression and gratitude when leaving the shelter… they know on some sense that you saved their life and their world will never be the same! Warms my heart to see how all my past fosters are doing and how happy and loved they are. Juliana, Galveston County Area

Hello everyone. I have recently became a foster for pets in need that are looking to find a permanent loving home. When I first inquired about doing this, I found my calling to help those who can’t help themselves. Animals have always been my passion. I have to say, since becoming a foster, I absolutely love what I am doing. I’m currently fostering Gretal A.k.a Ginny. She’s such a wonderful dog. She loves my family to no end and I know how she would make a great addition to anyone’s home. What’s great about the program is Mutt Mesh Animal Rescue stays in touch with their fosters and has these wonderful babies in there upmost thoughts. I’ve never seen a rescue group more in touch with the animals and their fosters. It’s such a wonderful program and I strongly suggest this program for anyone looking to foster or adopt or even better to foster to only fall in love with the wonderful pet you’re fostering, which is happening in my case. Still, the best things for the wonderful, family deserving pets is a long term home. I aim to find her one. As a foster parent, you love, care, and treat them as one of your own while helping to find that home most suitable for your animal.  I absolutely can’t picture myself without this program. It’s a wonderful experience to those who want to help. You can even get in touch with me through Mutt Mesh Animal Rescue if you would like to hear more information about my loving beauty Ginny! God bless
